PRAYER ROOM

“Adonai, God of armies, hear my prayer; listen, God of Jacob!”
Psalm 84:9

Terrorists keep trying to take innocent lives. When bomb-belts are too easily discovered, they charge at passersby with kitchen knives, or use their cars to mow down people standing at bus stops. Thank God, many are stopped before they can carry out their attacks, but they don’t fail for lack of desire.

Rockets are periodically coming over the border from Gaza – and sometimes from Lebanon. These thousands of explosives have been causing more property damage than loss of life, but the trauma is great, especially among Israeli children. And sadly, Palestinians are being endangered as well, by explosives stored under their homes and schools, and by rockets that misfire.

Even worse are the booby-trap balloons sent by the hundreds from Gaza into Israel, rigged with explosives and cynically made attractive to young children. Again, we are grateful that no children have been injured by this cruel tactic.

Scores of wildfires started by arsonists have ravaged our small forests, which were painstakingly nurtured
for decades, and have sometimes forced entire villages to evacuate. While the
perpetrators are not always identified, the incendiary balloons
burning up our southern grasslands are proudly claimed by Hamas.

Antisemitism has put on the mask of anti-Zionismto spread its age-old lies, while the notorious BDS (boycott,
divest, sanction) movement has succeeded in hiding its ultimate goal of eliminating the State of Israel.
Yet at the same time, Arab nations are warming up to the Jewish state in unexpected numbers.

These alliances are due mostly to a common enemy: Iran, which continually publishes its intention to
wipe Israel off the map, and is dangerously close to obtaining nuclear weapons – while the Western world stands by.

In spite of all this, we are not afraid. Am Israel Chai – the nation of Israel is alive, not because of our ingenuity, powerful resources,
or “luck”, but because the mighty Creator is with us.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.” Isaiah 43:2-3
